Richardson Concrete Pads & Slabs

Half the failed slabs we see in Richardson were poured straight on grade decades ago, no base, no steel, just concrete on black clay, and the clay won. We pour shed, shop, AC, and RV slabs the other way: sized for the load, set on compacted base.

How we build it right

The process behind concrete pads & slabs built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete pads & slabs job.

01

Scope the load first

An AC pad and a shop slab are different problems. We ask what sits on it, what drives on it, and what might in ten years, then spec thickness and steel from the answers.

02

Cut, grade, and compact

We excavate to plan depth, condition the clay, and compact a base course. Skipping this step is why the county is full of tilted shed slabs.

03

Form with drainage in mind

Forms set so the finished slab sheds water away from structures and property lines, with elevations checked twice before concrete is ordered.

04

Reinforce and pour

Steel placed on chairs at mid-slab where it works, not lying on the dirt where it does not. Summer pours get hot-weather scheduling and a managed cure.

05

Finish to purpose

Trowel finish for shops and enclosed sheds, broom outdoors, anchor bolts or blockouts wherever the structure above needs them.

Why Lucky's

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete pads & slabs, that starts with scope the load first.

Proof

A job we'd put our name on

No slab poured on bare clay by Lucky’s Concrete in Richardson
Our baseline

No slab poured on bare clay

The rule is simple and we do not bend it: every pad, from a small AC pad to a full shop slab, goes on graded, compacted base, sized and reinforced for its stated load. Expansive clay punishes shortcuts on a schedule of its own choosing, so the base work is where the money goes, even though it is the part you never see.

FAQ

Richardson concrete pads & slabs, answered

What does a concrete slab cost?

Pads and slabs in North Texas generally start around $7-13 per square foot, moving with thickness, reinforcement, and access. We price from a site visit, not a phone estimate; excavation and base work vary too much lot to lot to guess responsibly.

How thick does my slab need to be?

Four inches handles most sheds and equipment, vehicle and RV slabs run thicker with heavier steel, and shop slabs depend on what rolls or sits on them. Tell us the real use and we spec to it rather than pouring one-size-fits-all.

Do I need a permit for a shed slab?

The slab itself usually does not trigger one, but the structure on it can, depending on size and placement. We will flag what applies in Richardson during the estimate so nothing surprises you mid-project.

Can you pour an RV pad off my alley?

Yes, and alley access actually simplifies some pours. We check turning clearance, slope the pad to drain, and thicken the entry edge where the coach loads it.

Why did my old slab tilt?

Almost always the same autopsy: poured on unprepared clay, no reinforcement, and decades of shrink-swell cycles underneath. The fix is not more concrete on top; it is tear-out and a base done right.

Can you extend my existing slab?

Yes. We dowel into the existing edge so the two pours act together, match elevations, and place an isolation or control joint at the seam. What we will not do is butt new concrete against old and hope.
